Best Practice: Homecare patients with diabetes should be encouraged to gradually increase physical activity. |

The benefits of physical activity in controlling blood glucose and blood pressure should be emphasized. Patients should be encouraged to perform 150 minutes per week of moderate rate intensity aerobic physical activity achieving 50-70% of maximum heart rate. If no contraindications, patients with diabetes shoul participate in strength training three times a week.
